Skin Heroes

April 7, 2019 by alice Leave a Comment

Over the years I’ve come to realise that my skin needs a less is more approach. As much as I want to constantly try the latest products and switch things up, I’ve learnt that my skin responds the best when given a low maintenance, steady and gentle routine.

As part of my plight to achieve perfect skin, I’ve found a number of skincare heroes which I adore and find work well for my skin. Whilst I’m very much still on this journey, these are the standout products that have made there way into my routine and I intend to have stick around.

When I was back in London at the start of the year I made sure I found some time to pick up the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser which I’d seen raved about across a number of my favourite blogs. I’ve not been disappointed – this is a gorgeous cleanser that’s super gentle and always leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh. It’s great to use in the evening on dry skin to melt away makeup, or on wet skin in the morning to kick start the day.

Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel has been my skincare best friend for a number of years and I’m not sure I’ll ever stray from it. It’s a lightweight formula that is easily absorbed, makes my thirsty skin feel amazing and is light enough for every day use. I use the gel version which is most suitable for oilier skin types as despite having been normal to combination in the past, I’ve found since living in a hotter climate that my skin can get a little oily throughout the day.

It’s important to consider the season when curating your skincare routine. During the colder months I’ll use more moisturising masks to help hydrate my skin, whilst in the hotter months I’ll use products that help minimise oilyness.

Despite hoping I’d be pimple free come 32, this is simply not the case and I can still be prone to the occasional hormonal breakout. Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion is my go to whenever a nasty pimple begins to appear. I pop it on before bed and when I wake in the morning its nearly always dramatically reduced which makes it the perfect product for a quick fix.

What are your skincare heroes?
