Why 2019 Is The Year I Get Back Into Blogging

March 14, 2019 by alice 2 Comments

Tea Party With Alice turned six in January. I can’t really celebrate this as a 6 year milestone personally, given I’ve taken some fairly lengthy absences in the last year or so – but I love my blog and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say a proper goodbye.

When I first started blogging in 2013, it was a completely different world and I was incredibly dedicated. I spent my evenings at PR events, my weekends working on photography and always aimed to post 3-4 times a week, all whilst maintaining a demanding full time job. It was hard work, but so rewarding – particularly when I was Highly Commended at the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards in 2015. After moving to Melbourne in 2017 and coincidently falling completely out of love with the world of makeup and skincare my blog took a back seat as I focused on my new life. I dipped in with a blog post every now and then, got myself a new blog design, promised myself I’d get back into it, but more often than not these pages were left looking pretty bare.

Almost a quarter of the way into 2019, I’ve decided that this will be the year I get back into blogging. I love this blog so much and want to get back into it because I always found it so therapeutic and rewarding. Almost two years into life in Australia I feel like I’m settled into all aspects of my life and have the time (and mental capacity) to put a little effort back in. I’m unlikely to ever be the kind of blogger that schedules my posts again or spends half my weekend working on photography and I’m unlikely to ever attend (or be invited) to a PR event again. This isn’t what blogging is about for me and I definitely don’t have the time for that. It’ll be leisurely and spontaneous, there may be three posts in one week, and then nothing for a month – I don’t want to hold myself accountable whatsoever as it’s at that point that I burn out and the enjoyment is immediately stripped away.

I’m 32 next month and in such a positive phase of my life. I feel like I’ve found some sort of inner peace within myself – I’m far from perfect but I’ve learnt to accept who I am, what I want and who I want in my life. 2018 was filled with excitement and much of it will come to fruition this year. Turning 30 was pretty scary, but turns out that getting older is actually pretty cool – even though I’m not sure I’ll ever feel like a proper adult.

Can’t wait to share my journey!
