Monday to Friday, I have a fairly regimented morning routine. I’m an organised person by nature that thrives on being on time, so I like to give myself enough time to shower, get ready and eat breakfast before leaving the house and hopping on the train into the city. With that being said, I’m also in survival mode – I wake up at 6am every day and I like to get into work early, so I’m just trying to get myself vaguely presentable in the quickest and easiest way possible.
As a result, my weekend mornings are a time I relish. I typically still get up early (part body-clock, part not wanting to waste the day), but I love being able to leisurely spend my morning taking things at my own pace. I do what I want when I want, there aren’t any rules, but typically, it goes a little something like this…
On average I wake up around 8am at the weekend, I’m not a snoozer which sometimes works against me as even when I know I’m still feeling a bit snoozy and could do with a bit more kip, my body will not go back to sleep so I’m forced to get up and kick off my morning regardless.
I like to get my face washed as soon as possible even if I’m not in the mood to get straight into the shower. I hate the feeling of sleepy skin and sticky eyes so washing my face is a must and really helps to wake me up. You can read my updated skincare post here!
Once I’ve got my coffee in hand, I normally have to kill a bit of time waiting for Jack to wake up. He’s gets up even earlier than me in the week so really takes his time at the weekend. I use this time to watch Netflix, or aimlessly scroll the internet.
Jack and I love to get breakfast out at the weekend, it’s our thing and we’re lucky to have some amazing brunch spots a stones throw away so we’re able to indulge this habit. When my stomach starts to rumble, I know it’s time to jump in the shower and get myself ready for the outside world. I love sitting at my dressing table to do my makeup, it’s one of my favourite spots in the house.
Once I’m ready, it’s time to make sure the boss of the house (Billie Jean) is set for the day too. A quick litter change, water refill and a bundle of fresh hay is all it takes. Oh, and lots of cuddles too…
And there we have it, I’m washed, dressed and ready for a feed!
