- Two Thousand and Eighteen.
Wow, another year. Is it just me, or do they pass quicker each year? I’m normally pretty excited to start a new year, it brings the opportunity to make changes, have a fresh start and so on. However I didn’t really feel like that this year as 2017 was my best year and I didn’t want it to end.
Any long time readers will know that my blog changed shape a lot in 2017. I had two redesigns, shifted away from beauty blogging and documented my move to Australia. It’s been an incredible year – I feel like I’ve achieved a lot, I feel brave for moving to a country I’d never visited previously, and proud that I’ve set settled in so well and created a life for myself.
3 – the number of new countries visited
30 – the birthday milestone I hit!
9 – the number of flights taken
5 – the number of pets owned (4 fish, 1 rabbit)
2 – the number of new jobs started
37 – the number of blog posts written
I don’t really believe in making resolutions at the beginning of January, I think resolutions can be made at any time of year, and the pressure and (often failure), can make you feel as though you’ve started the year badly. I like to make goals of things I’d like to achieve – I just don’t put pressure on myself.
// Read More
I’ve always loved reading, and once I get into a book can read it in one sitting, I just never seem to find the time – I’m always too busy watching Netflix, or on my phone. Over my Christmas break, I read a brilliant book (The Husband’s Secret – Liane Moriarty) and it’s really reignited my love for reading. This year, I’d really like to try and switch off my phone 30 minutes before bed and just sit and read – I’m confident I’ll sleep better for it too.
// Join A Gym
I hate to be that cliché, but I’ll be joining a gym this year. I’ve never loved exercise, and am still on the quest to find what works best for me. Last year I hired a personal trainer, which was great – but after a while I found that I wasn’t getting much from the sessions and started to dread them, and given the huge expense I was putting into it, it just didn’t work out for me. Whilst I’m definitely prepared to get another trainer, I’d like to do it in a gym environment (to cure my gym fear), and hopefully get back to a place where exercise is just a part of my life.
// Take Care of Myself
Alongside joining a gym, I really want to focus on taking care of myself more. I am good at finding time to myself to just chill, but rather than just spend that time sitting around, I’d like to take more time to get massages, facials and truly have some time pampering myself. I never pay for myself to get a massage, surprising given how much I love them, so I’m aiming to have one at least once a month to really take some time to myself to just completely relax.
I’m excited for what’s in store for me this year, I think it’s going to be amazing – I can’t wait to share all my adventures with you!
