Do you prefer an artificial or real tree?
Always real. I can understand the ease of having an artificial one, but I don't think they ever look anywhere near as good. Christmas trees smell so gorgeous, I can't imagine not coming home to that smell in December.
You're in a coffee shop in December, what do you order?
My favourite hot drink is a Chai Latte, so whilst not specifically a Christmas drink, it tastes just like Christmas should. If I needed a caffeine kick I'd probably have a Gingerbread Latte, but generally I'm a non coffee drinker.
What is your favourite colour scheme to decorate the tree?
My family tree has never had, nor will ever have a colour scheme. We've collected numerous decorations over the years and they all just get plonked back on the tree with some multicoloured lights and tinsel in December. It's a higgildy piggildy tree but it really works. I expect when I have my own tree, I'll be the type to colour coordinate everything however.
Giving or receiving?
Definitely giving, I absolutely love buying presents for people. In my family it's not so much about surprises as everyone says what they want as we're all a bit older now, but as a general rule I much prefer giving. It's so nice to see someone's reaction to something you've specially picked out for them.
To mince pie or not to?
What is your traditional Christmas lunch?
My dad is chief chef in our house, and he does a fantastic job. He's an excellent cook so Christmas dinner is always delicious. We alternate year on year from having a Turkey or Goose, and then we have all the usual trimmings - parsnips, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts etc. He usually makes two types of stuffing (he gets experimental with it) and always makes sure we have plenty of gravy and bread sauce, as he knows I'll have a nervous breakdown without adequate resources.
Christmas Day fashion?
We go fancy in my household for Christmas day, pyjamas are not permitted. You can essentially wear what you like as long as you've made an effort, but I'm likely to wear a nice dress.
Favourite Christmas song?
Without hesitation, my favourite Christmas song is Otis Redding - White Christmas. It's such a beautiful song, and it frustrates me when people think of Love Actually when they hear it, as the song has been around since 1941 and it should be better recognised!
Favourite Christmas film?
It's got to be Home Alone or Elf. Both perfect to get you into the Christmas spirit and can be watched over and over again with maximum enjoyment potential each time.
Presents before or after lunch?
Thankfully before as we don't eat our Christmas meal till around 5pm, and even at 26 I couldn't wait that long to get my hands on my presents!
